All the warmth of the Mediterranean
The design of the 36e8 MadeTerraneo kitchen, with its traditional Mediterranean elements, springs from a trip to Portugal, where it takes the inspiration for the hand-made ceramic tiles.
The concept was birthed bringing together the two elements of tradition and innovation. The tradition is where Arab and European cultures mix together, transforming each hand-made ceramic square into a little decorative work of art.
The innovative element in this LAGO design kitchen is how it uses these ceramic tiles as the main components of the working tops and breakfast bar that, like giant pixels, combine to form irregular shapes and patterns.
From the fusion of these two worlds comes a Mediterranean-style, modular kitchen but one which has maintained all the key LAGO kitchen design characteristics: the modular under- and over- cupboards, the glass working top supports, and millimetre-accurate fitting.
The MadeTerraneo ceramic is custom produced by Made a Mano – a Caltagirone company that blends Mediterranean tradition with Nordic minimalism. It can be used for kitchens with a breakfast bar and working tops with integrated sink, but can also be used in other areas of the home to create Mediterranean-style dining tables, benches and shelving

Complete your design kitchen with one of the LAGO freestanding units:
Having ceramic surfaces in a kitchen has numerous functional benefits: it is an extremely hardwearing material, resistant to bumps, scratches and sudden temperature change, as well as being hygienic and easy to clean.
There are six colour moods available when decorating your home Mediterranean-style: from whites to terracottas, from shades of green into blues, through to a riotous mix of colours to create a garden-in-bloom feel.
As in other LAGO kitchens, the 36e8 MadeTerraneo kitchen also has clear crystal supports that contrast with the physicality of the tops and the breakfast bar, seeming almost to disappear. The monolith of the working top, with the built-in sink, almost seems to float in mid-air.
The 36e8 MadeTerraneo kitchen has been tested according to European safety law EN14749 through CATAS, certified test laboratory and R&D institute for the wooden home-décor sector.
The ‘MadeTerraneo’ pattern is ideal for kitchen working tops, breakfast bar surfaces, tables, benches and shelves, and can be arranged to form regular and irregular designs.
This modular LAGO kitchen leaves plenty of room for creativity, thanks to the square format of the base units that can be arranged in infinite combinations.
The wide choice of units, with their different depths, finishes and colours means you can make your kitchen walls talk a new a kind of language, leaving ample room for your creativity.
By adding ceramics into the LAGO product range the 36e8 MadeTerraneo kitchen is introducing yet another excellent, high quality material, alongside the Wildwood oak. Rich in history and charm, hand-made ceramic brings all the warmth of the Mediterranean into the kitchen, the heart of the home.
We use this traditional material of hand-decorated ceramic and modernise it by using its uniform modular shape to create irregular and dramatic patterns. These add movement to the working top or to the breakfast bar surface.
